My purpose in establishing this blog is to make certain that this unique, scientifically derived self help system receives as wide a distribution as possible.  It is of great potential value to every feeling person who would like to improve their emotional well being.  All of the following information is based on the work of Walter H. Winkler (Wink), author of “Discovering Interest in Living and Working”, other books, scores of pamphlets covering all phases of life and this program, The Alternative Feeling Concept (AFC).  My association with Wink began years ago when I took his psychology course.  He was an instructor at Wayne State University and The Detroit Institute of Technology.  As a graduate engineer, the rational basis for his program received my immediate interest.  I soon become totally committed to him and the concept. We developed a close personal relationship and I spent countless hours discussing Alternative Feelings with him at his home. I absorbed the concepts like a sponge, learned the material, acted as a student teacher and sold scores of books and pamphlets.  I have been able to learn and apply AFC to my own life and receive many of its benefits.
When we face an annoyance/painful situation, being aware and applying the AFC pattern of alternatives can be extraordinarily helpful.  Rather than having a vague general feeling as to the source of discomfort for both complex, long term attitudinal problems or transient stressful situations, we learn to apply the seven feeling factors to produce a positive resolution to the stressful situation.  We are able to focus and analyze the basis of the problem by reducing it to one or more of the seven factors.  All feelings can be related to these factors.  Taking appropriate AFC corrective action then becomes a manageable task by any of us.  Our success in changing our attitude then becomes a matter of our desire and persistence in application of the AFC.
An aspect of the program that I found of particular interest was not only the ability to manipulate the positive/satisfaction/grateful and negative/harmful/destructive aspects of feelings, but also the need for moderation and avoidance of extremes in both areas.  Extremes in negativism can lead to depression, loneliness, family, job and other problems.  Likewise, extreme positive views can lead to shallowness, flightiness, carelessness and other non-productive characteristics.  Moderation with a positive leaning which motives self improvement, appears to be the ideal.  According to Wink “The way we feel is an accident when we do not think about the way we want to feel”.  Constant awareness of this concept is a good base and emotional reference point from which meeting daily emotional swings can start.  
This blog is separated into several parts.  First and foremost is a description of the key elements of the AFC which is a tool that can be learned and applied to the solution of our emotional problems in every facet of life.  Of particular significance of the concept are the seven zones or factors of positive/satisfaction-negative/annoyance that have been scientifically derived.  These are:

C. Comparison
D Definition and Detail
E. Expectations
F. Frequency
G. Group Efficiency
These factors/zones are the distillation of the thoughts and work of the great minds in the field, (see Bio Info) tab. The names were assigned to the zones/factors to provide simple, mnemonic labels that are suggestive, easily retained for practice, focus and retention.  Each of the zones has many elements that can be interpreted in a positive/satisfactory or negative/annoyance manner.
Quoting from the book “Such a system of names cannot be founded upon the transient conditions or objects in our environment.  The system of names must be functional and operational and yet not set final values. The system must be coldly scientific in its accuracy, but warm and dynamic when applied to home, life, ability, friendship, honor and enthusiasm for living.  The zones of satisfaction or annoyance give each individual an analytical choice.  He/she make their own decisions.  The zones were true a hundred years ago and are true today.  They make satisfaction- blindness a needless form of torture that can be avoided through knowledge of ourselves, our world and our relations with people”.
Since the AFC content is extensive and thought provoking, information on all factors, excerpted from Wink’s book, is made available in this Blog. Each factor contains a summary description and its role in resolving emotional issues. The intent is to introduce and better familiarize readers with the AFC and provide direct access to the author’s writings.  I will arrange to have his 200 page paper-back book and selected pamphlets reprinted if there is sufficient interest.

As an aid in mastering the use of AFC, I am also making available Laws of Learning, (Learning) tab developed by several authorities in the field for the benefit of those wanting to assimilate the system in an organized way.
On a periodic basis, this blog will contain significant helpful insights drawn from the other books and the scores of pamphlets written by the author that provide useful information on nearly every aspect of life..
